0.0 Definitions
For the purposes of this license:
"Tales of Khassid Content" refers to all original intellectual property published under the Tales of Khassid brand, including but not limited to settings, worlds, lore, characters, deities, factions, cosmology, metaphysical structures, divine systems, subclasses, species, mechanics, systems, narrative elements, artwork, maps, audio, video, and written works.
"Khassid Content" refers specifically to Tales of Khassid Content associated with the world, setting, history, cosmology, and narrative of Khassid.
"Commercial Use" refers to any activity that directly or indirectly generates revenue, compensation, or financial benefit of any kind.
"Public Distribution" refers to any sharing of content beyond a private gaming group, including but not limited to websites, social media platforms, livestreams, video platforms, file-sharing services, digital storefronts, or marketplaces.
"Derivative Works" refers to any work based upon, adapted from, derived from, or substantially inspired by Khassid Content, whether in whole or in part.
1.0 Purpose of This License
The Khassid Authorized Roleplaying License (KARL) is a limited-use license that governs how players, Dungeon Masters, and community members may use original content published for Tales of Khassid.
This license exists to support narrative-driven play, community creativity, and private enjoyment while protecting the integrity, ownership, and identity of Khassid's setting, lore, and systems.
KARL operates alongside the System Reference Document 5.1 and 5.2.1, licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0). This license applies solely to original content not covered by the SRD.
2.0 License Grant
Subject to full compliance with this license, Aelorian Press grants you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, revocable, limited, worldwide license to use Khassid Content only as expressly permitted herein.
No ownership rights are transferred. All rights not expressly granted are reserved by Aelorian Press.
3.0 Permitted Use
You are permitted to:
- Play: Use Khassid Content in private games, campaigns, home tables, livestreams, or play-by-post formats.
- Stream: Broadcast Khassid-based gameplay on platforms such as Twitch, YouTube, or podcasts, provided proper attribution is given.
- Create Characters: Use Khassid species, subclasses, and lore for player characters and NPCs.
- Write for Personal Use: Create adventures or campaign material for private use within Khassid.
- Share Privately: Distribute handouts, notes, or materials within a closed group, provided no monetization or public distribution occurs.
Streaming & Monetization Conditions
You may monetize streams (ads, subscriptions, donations) only if:
- Khassid Content itself is not sold or paywalled.
- No Khassid-based product is being sold.
You may not sell:
- Access to Khassid-exclusive campaigns
- Khassid-based modules or supplements
- Khassid-derived books, systems, or expansions
Aelorian Press reserves the right to revoke streaming permissions in cases of misuse, misrepresentation, or exploitation.
Use of official logos, artwork, or trade dress is permitted only as incidental display within gameplay and may not be used as standalone branding without written permission.
4.0 Prohibited Use
You may not:
- Redistribute or republish Khassid Content in whole or in part (digital or print) without written permission.
- Sell or commercially exploit any Khassid-derived content.
- Claim ownership of Khassid's setting, lore, deities, systems, or mechanics.
- Use Khassid Content for AI training, NFT minting, or blockchain-based systems.
- Imply endorsement, partnership, or official affiliation with Aelorian Press.
- Create or distribute derivative works for public or commercial release without permission.
- Use Khassid Content as a substitute for or competitor to official products.
All rights not expressly granted are reserved.
5.0 Commentary & Actual Play Safe Harbor
Non-commercial commentary, discussion, reviews, analysis, campaign journals, wikis, and actual play recordings do not constitute Derivative Works, provided:
- They comply with attribution requirements
- They do not reproduce substantial protected content verbatim
6.0 Relationship to the System Reference Document (SRD)
KARL exists alongside the SRD 5.1 and 5.2.1 (CC BY 4.0).
SRD content (rules frameworks, class structures, etc.) is not owned by Aelorian Press and is not restricted by this license.
However, all original expressions within Tales of Khassid — including lore, subclasses, deities, mechanics, and setting-specific rules — are governed by this license.
7.0 Required Attribution
When using Khassid Content publicly, you must include:
"This content is set in Tales of Khassid, created by Darnell Coates and published by Aelorian Press under the Khassid Authorized Roleplaying License (KARL)."
Attribution must be visible or audible.
Attribution does not imply endorsement or partnership.
8.0 Termination
Violation of the terms of this license — including unauthorized reproduction, commercialization, misrepresentation, or reputational harm — results in immediate termination of all granted permissions without notice.
Upon termination:
- All use, publication, streaming, and distribution of Khassid Content must cease immediately.
- Aelorian Press may pursue content takedowns through hosting platforms, distributors, and payment processors.
- Continued use after termination constitutes willful copyright infringement.
Failure by Aelorian Press to enforce any provision of this license does not constitute a waiver of future enforcement of that or any other provision.
Termination under this license is permanent unless explicitly reinstated in writing by Aelorian Press.
9.0 Morality & Brand Protection
Aelorian Press reserves the right to revoke this license for any use that:
- Promotes hatred, harassment, or real-world violence
- Exploits sexual violence, minors, or abuse
- Associates Khassid with extremist ideology
- Damages the reputation of Tales of Khassid

11.0 Version Control & Precedence
This version (KARL v3.0) supersedes all previous versions.
Continued use of Khassid Content constitutes acceptance of the current version.
12.0 Severability
If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full effect.
13.0 Entire Agreement
This document constitutes the entire agreement governing use of Khassid Content and supersedes all prior agreements.
14.0 Force Majeure
Aelorian Press is not liable for delays or failures due to events beyond reasonable control, including but not limited to natural disasters, war, labor disputes, outages, or governmental actions.
