Welcome to Tales of Khassid

Tales of Khassid is an independent fantasy tabletop roleplaying setting designed for adventures using the fifth edition of Dungeons & Dragons—a world of accountable gods, sacred mortal will, and consequences that endure beyond the story.

Enter a world that remembers…

The Cataclysm

The Prelude to the Scream

For nearly five thousand years, Khassid flourished beneath the guidance of the gods. Civilizations rose, mortals pursued greatness, and the divine shaped the world through their influence.

Over time, that balance began to fail.

Mortal ambition grew unchecked, divisions widened, and the influence of tyranny, betrayal, and greed spread across Khassid. The gods turned inward, consumed by rivalries of their own, while those entrusted to guide creation became complicit through action or neglect.

Wars spread. Alliances failed. Oceans raged, mountains fell, and storms crossed the skies as the strain upon the world deepened. The Wild—the living essence flowing through every forest, river, and living thing across worlds and planes without end—felt each act of destruction inflicted upon Khassid.

Khassid stood at the edge of collapse.

The Scream and Judgment

When The Wild could endure no more, They cried out.

The Scream was felt throughout creation. Forests trembled, rivers broke their banks, and mortals and gods alike were struck by the anguish of the living world. Creation rejected the destruction imposed upon it, and the failing balance of Khassid gave way.

The Scream began the Cataclysm and drew Aeru’s gaze back to the world.

The Creator summoned the pantheon to judgment and demanded an accounting for the ruin caused through action and neglect. The gods had not been given Their domains as possessions, but entrusted with Cosmic Truths bound to creation and the proper purpose of divine power. To corrupt those Truths, or fail to uphold them, was to betray that trust.

One among the gods was erased from existence entirely. Their name, legacy, and memory were removed from the mortal world, leaving only the pantheon to remember.

Even the gods were accountable for the Cosmic Truths entrusted to Them.

Renewal and the Accords

Judgment ended the conflict among the gods, but Khassid remained broken.

The pantheon returned to the purpose it had abandoned. Together, the gods restored the land and seas, steadied the forces thrown into disorder, guided the dead to rest, and brought wild magic back under control. Forests rose again, rivers returned to their courses, and mortal civilizations began to rebuild.

Restoration alone, however, could not prevent another Cataclysm.

Aeru established the Divine Accords, binding the gods to restraint, responsibility, and the preservation of balance. Divine power would remain, as would rivalry and change, but none could again be allowed to endanger creation without consequence.

Khassid survived, but it did not fully heal.

Fractures remain in the world: strange storms, lost forms of magic, forgotten places, and unnatural events that still carry the influence of the Cataclysm. The old divine order ended, and what rose in its place was built upon the knowledge that balance must be maintained.

This is Khassid: a world rebuilt after the end of an age, still bearing the memory of what nearly destroyed it.

Khassid is a world of scattered continents, divine scars, rebuilt civilizations, haunted seas, and living faiths. Four centuries after the Cataclysm, its nations endure in the shadow of gods who still act but are no longer unbound.

Its peoples rebuilt around absence, memory, altered faith, disputed histories, and laws created to prevent heaven from breaking the world again.

You may arrive as a reader, a player, a Game Master, or simply someone curious about what lies beyond the next name on the map.
